These vibrant, often hugely funny short stories are modern to the core yet classic in theme. Here MacLeod lays out fragile yet strong, doughty yet bleak, frequently comical tales of love, death, longing, desire and the sometimes mismatched choreography of very modern attraction between consenting and non-consenting adults. As an antidote to schmaltz this collection of stories is a must, but for purely brilliant writing it is one of the quintessential reads of this first decade of the second millennium. A naughty read for noughties people!
